Shafaq News/ The member of the economic parliamentary committee, Minister Mazen Al-Fili, presented several proposals to the government, on Saturday, to deal with the economic crisis, praising the need to accelerate economic reforms and maximize non-oil tax revenues.
In a statement received by shafaq news agency, Al-Fili called for a "review of oil licensing rounds, as financial reports showed that nearly one third of oil revenues are paid for licensing companies".
He added that, “the parliamentary finance committee indicated that the funds which are expected to be allocated, according to the Chinese agreement, amount to two billion dollars, for the next six months. Therefore, it is necessary to clarify the projects, facilities and services that will be provided in exchange for these amounts”.
Al-Fili also called for “collecting taxes and entitlements of mobile phone licenses, which are estimated to be billions of dollars, and reviewing the officials’ huge salaries”.
"factories of the Ministry of Industry and Military Industrialization (MIMI) must be operated to ensure new revenues, and create jobs for young people", he said, stressing the need to manage border crossings and adopt strict mechanisms to collect revenues of at least $10 billion.
Al-Fili called for a "review of the currency auction exchange, because according to a study issued by the central bank, more than 14 billion dollars were wasted", noting that, "in 2012, Iraqi parliament formed a parliamentary committee to follow up the currency auctions, and when investigations revealed the involvement of political parties, the work was disrupted".
