“The Court specialized in commercial litigation in Baghdad issued a ruling requiring (DHL) German company for international mail to pay an amount of 1,982,174 $ for the benefit of General Civil Aviation Authority of Iraq ,” The spokesman of the judicial authority , Abdul Sattar Bayraktar said in a statement received by “Shafaq News “.

" The lawsuit filed by the General Civil Aviation Authority of Iraq because the German company didn’t pay landing wages at Baghdad International Airport for the period from 1/1/2009 until 17/12/2011 which is the date for the last landing of a plane belonging to the company in Baghdad .

The Court believed that according to the amount of judicial experts that (DHL) company is obliged to pay the mentioned amount to the authority of the Iraqi Civil Aviation as landing wages of aircrafts belonging to the company , wait , baggage and guard at the airport ; according to the system of wages in the civil airports No. 5 for 2008 .

For his part, the lawyer of (DHL) German company, Salam Zuhair , said that " the company deems to pay the full amount because it is believed that the court's decision is right because it took into consideration the public interest ," adding that "the company decided to open a new page with the Iraqi aviation authority for its faith in Iraqi judiciary. "

He explained that “such decisions assure investors and make them invest in Iraq as a global trading center so the company preferred not to appeal the decision and accepted it."

It is worth mentioning that the aircraft movement at Baghdad International Airport , particularly with regard to the movement of passengers suffer from significant problems ; due to lack of regularity , as travelers experience often erratic start of the aircraft , despite the availability requirements of the reservation and the acquisition of the ticket and the announcement of the dates of departure ; which leads travelers to stay for long hours waiting for the start of the journey, as some travelers are forced to stay overnight in the airport lounge ; according to previous questionnaires and investigations .
