Shafaq News / The Minister of Electricity , Louay al-Khatib announced on Tuesday that the outbreak of Corona virus in Iraq has prevented the arrival of energy development experts to the country.
Al-Khatib said in a statement to the local "Al-Mirbad" radio today, " Corona virus prevented foreign experts from reaching Iraq to develop the electricity sector."
Iraq has been suffering since the 1990s, from a severe shortage of electrical energy. Efforts made after the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime in 2003 did not succeed in improving its reality due to the widespread financial and administrative corruption in the country's joints.
Iraq is importing energy from Iran to fill its shortfall, especially in the summer, with which heat temperatures rise and the demand for electricity increases.
