Shafaq News / A local official in Salahuddin said on Tuesday, that 3 members of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) were killed and 3 others were injured when a roadside bomb exploded at the outskirts of al-Sherqat district northern Salahuddin.
The Administration officer of Al- Sherqat, Khairallah Majeed said in an interview with Shafaq News, that a roadside bomb targeted a patrol of the PMF - Brigade 36 in the left coast of Al- Sherqat, killing 3 members and injuring 3 others, indicating that "the causes of the accident are due to a security vacuum left by the army forces stationed there after the withdrawal of its security points two weeks ago. "
He added, "The ISIS threat continues in Al- Sherqat district and its outskirts for not clearing (Makhoul Mountains, Al-Zawiya Mountains and the Kanaous region) north of Al- Sherqat, from the remnants of ISIS that are still present in these areas and take them as platforms for terrorist attacks “.
Al- Sherqat district is located 125 km north of Tikrit and 135 km west of Kirkuk.
ISIS took control of Sherqat district in 2014 before it was liberated in 2016 and 2017.
