“The number of appeals filed by political entities and candidates until the end of filing appeals’ period has reached ( 893 ) on the results of the special election of the Iraqi parliament in 2014 ,” The member of the Board of Commissioners of IHEC, Mohsen al-Moussawi, said in a statement received by “Shafaq News “.
He added that all appeals have been sent to the judiciary formed by the Supreme Judicial Council, which has jurisdiction considering.
With regard to appeals filed on the results of Kurdistan provincial council’s elections , Moussawi pointed out that the political entities and candidates for election for Kurdistan provincial council’s have made (28) appeals as judicial board will consider election these appeals.
Moussawi renewed his assertion considering the appeals of the election results is the competence of the judiciary and its decisions will be final and binding.
It was hoped to complete the consideration of appeals last Thursday and then certify the results , but IHEC said that the judiciary has not been resolved the appeals yet .
The majority of the parties have questioned the results of the elections that took place on 30 of last April and made appeals to the judiciary .
