A source close to Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi revealed on Friday that the latter had invited members of Parliament to inform them of his government’s program and the curriculum vitae of the candidates for the portfolios.
The source said in a special statement to Shafaq News, that "Allawi invited all members of the parliament to attend at exactly six p.m. on Saturday, to the government palace to inform them of the biographies of his cabinet ministers and the government program."
Allawi had announced on Wednesday, that he had completed the selection of his government, which he said consists of independent ministers who are competent away from the influence of the parties, calling on Parliament to hold a session next Monday to give it confidence.
The caretaker head, Adel Abdel-Mahdi wrote a letter to Parliament, Thursday, inviting him to hold an emergency session on Monday to give confidence to the government of his successor.
However, passing the government will not be easy, considering that Allawi did not reach understandings with the delegation of Kurdistan Region, as well as prominent Sunni powers on his prospective government.
