Shafaq News / A security source and eyewitnesses said on Wednesday that a prominent leader's sit-in tent was targeted in the protests in Nasiriyah, the capital of Dhi Qar Governorate in southern Iraq, the prominent leasder is Alaa Al-Rikabi.

The source and witnesses told Shafaq News that an explosive device exploded early this morning in Al-Haboubi square for sit-ins, which resulted in the injury of at least one protester and serious material damage.

For its part, the police said in a statement today that "at 12:30 a.m. an explosive device exploded near the detachment of the pharmaceutical martyr , Muhannad Kamel in Nasiriyah city, causing material damage without any casualties."

Police patrols and detachments that carried out their duties in addition to forensic evidence and explosives control and detachments from K9 went to continue the on-site investigation, according to the police statement.

The provincial police chief issued an order to open an investigation into the incident and track down the perpetrators, calling on the demonstrators to assist the security forces and cooperate in delivering the information.

In parallel, unidentified persons burned three tents of the sit-in in Tahrir Square inside (Garden of the Nation) in the center of the capital, Baghdad, by throwing them with Molotov cocktails.
