Shafaq News / A political source said early Saturday that the representative of the Lebanese Hezbollah, Muhammad al-Kawtharani discussed with Shiite political leaders the task of intelligence chief Mustafa al-Kathemi to form the government at a meeting in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
The source told "Shafaq News", that "Al-Kawtharani met during the past two days a number of party leaders, political blocs and armed factions, and to give his opinion on assigning Mustafa Al-Kathimi to form the next Iraqi government."
He added that "the representative of the Lebanese Hezbollah informed the leaders of the political parties and blocs to be patient from taking the decision and not hasten to take a position on the commissioning of Al-Kathemi or not."
The source stated, "Al-Kawtharani stressed during his talks the unification of the position of the Shiite forces by taking the decision and not being drawn behind the benefits and personal positions."
The United States announced earlier today that it offered a reward of up to ten million dollars in exchange for "any information about the activities, networks and partners" of the leader of the Lebanese Hezbollah, Mohammad Kotharani, who is accused of playing a major role in coordination between pro-Iranian groups in Iraq.
The US State Department said in a statement today, "Muhammad Kawtharani is a senior official in Hezbollah forces in Iraq, who took part in the political coordination of the paramilitary groups loyal to Iran which is a coordination that was previously undertaken by Qassem Soleimani.
Washington considers Kawtharani, listed on the US blacklist of terrorism since 2013, "to facilitate the activities of groups operating outside the control of the Iraqi government to violently suppress demonstrators" or "attack foreign diplomatic missions."
The US State Department, which classifies Hezbollah as a terrorist organization, added that this official promotes the interests of the Lebanese Shiite movement in Iraq by participating in "training, financing, and providing political-logistical support to Iraqi Shiite rebel groups."
Soleimani was killed near Baghdad International Airport in January by an American strike that President Donald Trump ordered and that Baghdad considered a violation of its sovereignty.
