Shafaq News/ A security source in the southern province of Maysan said on Saturday that security forces were deployed in southern Iraq after armed clashes.
The source told Shafaq News that a noticeable security deployment is witnessed in Amara city, the center of Maysan province after a day of armed clashes between factions on one hand and bloody popular protests on the other.
The source added that dozens of protesters burned the headquarters of al-Aufiya movement after a clash with elements of the movement that lasted for six hours, pointing to the arrival of security reinforcements to the province to maintain security there.
The Asaib Ahl al-Haq group, led by Qais al-Khazali, mourned on Friday evening the director of its office and his brother in the southern province of Maysan.
In an official statement, the group mourned the director of its office in Maysan, Wissam Al-Alawi and his brother Essam Al-Alawi after they were injured as a result of an armed attack on the movement's headquarters in the province.
An official medical source from Maysan said the death toll from the demonstrators in the province had risen to 9 killed, while 94 others were injured, including 74 in Sadr Hospital and 20 in al-Zahrawi Hospital.
