Shafaq News / The Iraqi Forces Alliance announced on Wednesday, its support for forming a government headed by Mustafa Al-Kathemi, in the first announced position of the largest Sunni blocs in the Iraqi parliament.

The alliance of forces has more than 40 seats in the parliament led by Muhammad al-Halbousi.

The Alliance said in a statement received by Shafaq News, that " it affirms its steadfast and supportive stance for the stability of Iraq, and to move towards national options in forming the government within the constitutional contexts, and renews its adherence to the foundations of national unity in front of the challenges facing our country and our Iraqi people."

The Alliance indicated "its commitment to the unity of the political ranks, in order to overcome the difficult stage and the great risks that the country suffers on the health, security, economic and political levels," adding that "it places its interests that the candidate for prime minister, who would vote for his government in the parliament, has the acceptance and support of the political forces responsible for the nomination, and that he enjoy acceptance at the national level. "

The Alliance confirmed "its support for the agreement of the relevant political blocs to nominate Mustafa Al-Kathemi as president and the formation of the new government."

The representative of Al-Hikma (Wisdom) bloc, Asaad Al-Badri considered earlier that the goal of the political forces to nominate Al-Kathemi as prime minister is to thwart Adnan Zorfi’s mandate and not form the next government.

The leaders of the state of law, Nouri Al-Maliki, Al-Fateh ,Hadi Al-Amiri and   wisdom movement, Ammar Al-Hakim  have previously agreed not to pass the government of Prime Minister-designate Adnan Al-Zorfi, and put the name of Mustafa Al-Kathemi, the head of the intelligence agency, to the post.

However, Al-Zorfi, known for his stubbornness, "totally rejected this and said that it is the parliament session that determines whether my government will gain confidence or not."

Al-Zorfi is rejected by Shiite currents and they consider him too close to America, while armed Shiite factions close to Iran describe him as an agent of the American intelligence.
