Shafaq News / A source in Kurdistan Regional Council of Ministers said on Wednesday that Iraqi Federal Government Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi agreed in principle to send 400 billion dinars as wages of employees in the region.
“Al-Kadhimi agreed in principle to send 400 billion dinars to finance the wages of workers in the public sector in the region, the source said to Shafaq News Agency.
“This approval did not come into effect, as the regional government has not yet received any financial amount, adding that it is not known whether this amount will be sent monthly or not.
This amount is 52 billion dinars less than the federal government previously sent, where the previous amount was 452 billion dinars , the source added.
The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers decided in mid-April to stop sending salaries to employees in the region.
The cut of employee’s salaries of the region sparked widespread criticism inside and outside the region, as observers considered that this decision comes in the context of political pressures, coinciding with the efforts of Prime Minister-designate Mustafa Al-Kadhimi to form the new government.
There are pending issues between the two sides for many years, most notably is the disputed areas, how to manage oil wealth, the budget of Peshmerga forces.
