Shafaq News / Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa al-Kadhimi said on Saturday that his government has formed a committee to investigate the violence that accompanied the anti-government protests and the ruling political class, noting that he had ordered to release the detained protesters.
Al-Kadhimi said in a statement broadcast on official television after the first session of his government, that the government decided to form a high-level fact-finding committee on the violence that accompanied the popular protests, noting that "the committee will be fair to those who have been harmed, account the defaulting, and compensate the families of martyrs and wounded protesters.”
He added that he directed the security services to release all the detainees from the protesters, pointing out that he had requested from the Supreme Judicial Council to cooperate to release those who had been convicted of minor cases with the exception of those involved in killings.
600 people had been killed in violence that accompanied the unprecedented popular protests since last October.
