Shafaq News/ Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi had been subjected to political pressure to obtain positions and personal gains to prevent him from opening corruption files at the Integrity Commission, a deputy from al-Hikma (Wisdom) Parliamentary Bloc revealed on Sunday.

"Since the formation of his government, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi has been subjected to political pressure by the parties in order to obtain positions and personal gains in the Iraqi state, the political parties speak through the media in a way that differs behind political scenes,” Ali Al-Badiri told Shafaq News Agency.

Al-Kadhimi previously stated in his statements on April 27, 2020 that his government is a “solving crises" one and stressed that he rejects the pressures aimed at undermining the state.

Observers point out that Al-Kadhimi still needs the support of political forces to pass the rest of his government formation, as well as ensuring the support of the majority in Parliament for the work of his government.

Iraq is among the most corrupt countries in the world for many years, according to the Transparency International Index, where corruption has undermined state institutions and made it unable to improve the country’s conditions in various aspects.
