Shafaq News / The National Coalition, led by Iyad Allawi revealed on Tuesday, the participation of "demonstrators" in the cabinet of the new government headed by Mustafa Al-Kathemi.

"The leader in the coalition, Diaa Al-Muaini said to Shafaq News," Two days ago we had a meeting with the Prime Minister-designate Mustafa Al-Kathemi, and we assured him that the government program will not be very long especially since his government is temporary focused on two points. The first is to hold early and fair elections under the supervision of the United Nations, and the necessity of setting these elections by a fixed date during the government program, and they should be less than a year after the birth of the new government.

Al-Muaini stated that "the second point is holding the killers of the demonstrators accountable and compensating the families of the martyrs and the wounded demonstrators, as the Prime Minister-designate Mustafa Al-Kathemi supports these trends and is ready to fulfill the real demands of the demonstrators, as he affirmed that his government will soon be formed, with the participation of all segments, including peaceful demonstrators."

A source in "Al-Fateh" alliance led by Hadi Al-Amri stated earlier to Shafaq News that prominent Shiite leaders had given the green light to Prime Minister-designate Mustafa Al-Kathemi to be free to choose his government.

The source said, "The Shiite forces held a meeting at the home of the head of the Fateh Alliance of Hadi al-Amiri  and included the head of the State of Law Nuri al-Maliki, the head of the wisdom (al-Hikma) movement, Ammar al-Hakim, the president of Victory (Al-Naser) Alliance of Haider al-Abadi, the head of the political body of the Sadrist movement , Nassar al-Rubaie, and the National Security Adviser Faleh al-Fayyad, in addition to the Prime Minister-designate Mustafa Al-Kathemi. "

He added that "the meeting discussed the formation of the government and testing candidates from the Iraqi components in the ministerial cabinet."

The Iraqi President, Barham Salih has commissioned Al-Kathemi on April 9th  to form the new government within 30 days.

Al-Kathemi has the support of most of the Shiite, Sunni, and Kurdish political forces, which makes his mission easy, unlike his predecessors Adnan al-Zorfi and Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi, who failed to mobilize the necessary support to form a government.

The new government will succeed the government of Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, who resigned in early December 2019 under pressure from popular protests calling for the departure and accountability of all political class accused of corruption and waste of state funds.
