Shafaq News / Al-Nujaba Movement affiliated to the Popular Mobilization denied on Wednesday the involvement of the head of the mobilization security manager called "Abu Zain Al-Lami" in killing demonstrators during the protests that took place earlier this month.
The Spokesman of the movement, Nasr al-Shammari said in a statement that "the continuation of the malicious attempts of Al-Hurra American TV channel to attack and target the Iraqi society and the latest attempt was trying to place the name of the mobilization and accuse its security manger of targeting demonstrators despite the announced official position from the popular mobilization that it didn’t stand against them and this issue is totally out of authorities of the Popular Mobilization’s Security Directorate.
"All this reveals the conspiratorial and subversive role of this channel and of the American administration behind it which finances this suspicious role," the statement said.
A Reuters report said on Thursday that snipers belonging to militias backed by Iran took the roofs and fired demonstrators in Iraq, killing and injuring large numbers of demonstrators.
The report quoted Iraqi officials as saying that these gunmen were under the command of the leader in the Popular Mobilization ,Abu Zainab al-Lami at a time the media and sites continue to report the accession of al-Lami to the committee charged with investigating those involved in killing participants in the demonstrations.
