Shafaq News / Towards Reform Alliance, led by Sadr movement leader Muqtada al-Sadr confirmed on Saturday, that any government program that has no early elections program will not be voted on in the parliament.

"The speech of Prime Minister-designate Mustafa Al-Kathemi not containing  early elections, is not a defect in the speech, but rather did not mention as a decisive issue in the necessity of holding early elections," said   Alliance deputy Riyadh Al-Masoudi to Shafaq News.

He stressed that "no government program will be accepted or voted on by the parliament, if he does not clearly mention the early elections and determine the date for these elections, as there is a tendency to hold these elections after one year of giving the new government the confidence by the Parliament."

The President of the Republic, Barham Salih appointed Al-Kathemi, who is close to him, to form the government within 30 days, less than an hour after Adnan Al-Zorfi announced his apology from taking this task.

The indications suggest that Al-Kathemi’s mission will be easy in light of the support he received from most of the Shiite, Sunni, and Kurdish political blocs.

On Thursday, in his first televised address to the Iraqis, just hours after his assignment, Al-Kathemi vowed to form a government of services away from the dark rooms that would serve citizens and confine arms to the state and preserve the country's sovereignty.

He said that the test in front of him is a national duty .

He pointed out that the Iraqi people have not achieved their aspirations despite the passage of many years since the fall of the former regime as a result of failures of all of bearing their responsibilities.

Al-Kathemi pledged to form a government of services that would serve citizens not be isolated, vowing that his government would be a government of actions, not words.

He said that his government will stand on the first line of defending the people against Corona virus by harnessing all internal capabilities and external relations to contain the crisis.

Al-Kathemi added by saying, "Sovereignty is a red line ... We will not give up the sovereignty of the country, and the government will watch over the preservation of the sovereignty of Iraq," stressing by saying, "I repeat, sovereignty of Iraq will not be polemical, Iraq is for the Iraqis."

The prime minister-designate also pledged to confine arms to the state, saying, "All weapons are the prerogative of the state, not individuals and groups," noting that "security institutions of all kinds (army, police, popular mobilization forces and Peshmerga) will do their duty to prevent arms from breaking out through firm measures."

He affirmed that his government will preserve the dignity of the Iraqi citizen, adding, "We will not allow any Iraqi to be insulted from any internal or external side ... The Iraqi person is not subordinate to anyone, he is a descendant of civilizations."

Al-Kathemi indicated that "fighting corruption is a national task, and returning the displaced is a goal that I will not abandon," calling on everyone to cooperate with the government to establish confidence and protect Iraq from conflict.
