Shafaq News / Prime Minister-designate Adnan Al-Zorfi confirmed on Saturday his confidence in the ability of Iraq to overcome “Corona” crises and the decline in oil prices, provided that an efficient government administration is available.

A statement of the Prime Minister's Office received by Shafaq News, mentioned that "Al-Zorfi met the ambassadors of the European Union accredited in Baghdad, and he expressed their condolences to all European countries for daily lose of hundreds of their citizens due to the outbreak of   Corona epidemic, declaring his sympathy for the families of the victims in the countries of the Union that have long stood with Iraq on many urgent and crucial issues. "

Al-Zorfi reviewed, during his meeting with the ambassadors of the European Union countries accredited in Baghdad, according to a statement of the Prime Minister's Office reported to Shafaq News, "the risks facing Iraq and the countries of the region and the world in light of the fears resulting from the spread of the epidemic and its repercussions that paralyzed the economy and the global market."

On the other hand, Al-Zorfi warned, "The serious risks left by the decline in international oil prices, stressing his confidence in the ability of Iraq to overcome the new crisis because it possesses wealth, which compensates it for the losses provided that the competent government administration is available."

 Al-Zorfi also informed, according to the statement, "the ambassadors on the paths of forming his government," stressing that "the priorities of his government are to meet the demands of the peaceful movement for free and fair early elections, to address the financial and potential economic collapse, and to work to reduce the level of poverty in the country, restore civil peace, and extend the rule of law."

For their part, the ambassadors expressed their wishes for Iraq to restore   health and achieve the desired stability, and for the Prime Minister-designate to accomplish its mission in order to meet the aspirations of the people, and enhance Iraq’s traditional status in the region and the world.

The meeting was attended by the ambassadors of Italy, Germany, France, Sweden, Greece, Poland and Croatia, the European Union Mission and a representative of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to the statement.
