The ministry accused the Communications Commission that its decision involves political goals after demanding IHEC not to contract with the channels in the Kurdish region.
The general director of the media at the Ministry of Culture , Halkod Jundiyani said at a news conference attended by " Shafaq News " , that “ the Commission's decision to deprive the Kurdish channels from electoral propaganda is political by the Iraqi government and by the executive head of the commission , Safaa al-Deen Rabee.
He added that " the decision is against all the people of Kurdistan , not only against satellite channels operating in the region , because these channels got a license from the Ministry of culture of the region."
Jundiyani pointed out that " there is no need for Kurdish channels to get license from Baghdad because the regional government is recognized by the constitution ."
He added that the Ministry will hold a meeting with Kurdistan Syndicate of Journalists and representatives of satellite channels , adding that channel will protest today in front of IHEC in Erbil .
A formal letter to the media and communications addressed to IHEC demanded the exception of the Kurdish channels for electoral propaganda because they did not get the licenses from Baghdad .
