“After the recent events that have taken place in Sinjar district and the death of a number of Yezidis in Rabia area, who were present there as farmers to secure a living for their families and the martyrdom of 4 them in a hideous way , I met with the President of KRG , Nechirvan Barzani to discuss this issue and stand on the circumstances of the recent incident ,” The Yezidi MP of Kurdistan Alliance , Vian Dakheel told “Shafaq News “.

She said that after discussing the issue with Barzani , I have submitted a proposal to form a regiment of Peshmarga of the people of the area to protect it that includes people of Sinjar exclusively , because they know the geography of their areas in order to absorb part of widespread unemployment in their areas.

She added that Barzani expressed his approval on the proposal , pointing to that the subject will be studied by the commanding general of Peshmarga , Zera Fany ( Regional Guard ) and Major General Aziz Wessi , who was assigned to start and complete the relevant procedures relating to this matter .

Four Yazidi farmers ( two brothers , their uncle and their friend ) of the people of Khansour complex in Sinjar district were killed last Thursday by unknown gunmen who executed them by firing squad in front of the eyes of their loved ones at the farm , which they rented in Rabia sub-district (100 km north-west of Mosul ) , while two others were killed a few days before this incident .

Hundreds of Yazidi families who profession farming in Rebia sub-district had fled from their home areas toward Sinjar district due to threats to kill them by armed groups .

Sinjar district ( 124 km west of Mosul) is one of the disputed areas between Baghdad and Erbil, it is covered by Article 140 , and of the predominantly Kurdish Yazidis .
