Shafaq News / Basra people in southern Iraq, resorted to driving bicycles, to escape the pursuit of curfews by the security authorities to prevent the spread of Corona virus.
Basra recorded a marked increase in the number of infections associated with the Corona virus, and the local crisis cell says it is likely that the increase was due to breaking the curfew by citizens, in addition to participating in consolation councils.
Shafaq News reporter in Basra governorate says that some citizens have driven bicycles as an innovative way to escape from the checkpoints in implementing the curfew.
Falah al-Moussawi from Basra people says that the prices of bicycles have risen as a result of the increased purchase demand for them in Basra, and most of those who buy them unfortunately escape from the security checkpoints. Rather, the security forces have been busy with them and focused on vehicles that roam in some areas and intersections in the provincial center ,its districts and sub-districts, calling on the security authorities to take all necessary measures to reduce this phenomenon.
A medical source revealed that the health survey detachments in Basra Governorate in Iraq recorded more than 40 new cases of Corona virus, most of them contacting previous patients.
This comes a day after 39 infections were recorded in al-Hartha area, north of the governorate, most of them people who took part in a funeral council.
"The health field survey teams recorded new positive injuries cases of contacts of patients with Corona epidemic exceeding 40, varied between the provincial center and north of Basra,” the source told Shafaq News.

Meanwhile, the head of the crisis cell in Basra, governor, Assaad Abdul Amir Al-Eidani said in an interview reported to Shafaq News, that the crisis cell is keen to follow the health situation in the province in coordination with the health department of Basra and the doctors, surprising at the same time from publishing some videos that some citizens accuse his cell of default.
He explained that those in quarantine are mostly in contact with people infected with Corona virus.
He added, "He has no hostility with any citizen from Basra, especially in Bani Malik areas, north of the governorate, where we were surprised by publication of a video by some citizens, accusing him, the governor and the Ministry of Health that they are innocent. The infected people are not defendants, but they must be treated and protected.
He explained that there are specialized doctors and tests who are diagnosing cases and our goal is not to harm the people as some have spoken in the videos perhaps the people in contact feel fine but they are if we leave them the infection will be transmitted to dozens and perhaps the issue will be as it spread in other countries.
