A statement from the presidency briefed by " Shafaq News " , demanded “ the parliament to reconsider articles 37 and 38 in order to achieve justice and harmony with the spirit of the Constitution and its provisions.
Thousands of people had demonstrated in 10 Iraqi provinces, last Saturday demanding the cancellation of paragraph 37 of the Unified Retirement Law earmarked for retirement and privileges of MPs , the three presidencies and senior officials in the state.
Similar protests took place in seven provinces, including the capital Baghdad on the fifth of last October and resulted in an overwhelming wave of anger that swept the country , where the Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki announced his support for the demands of the demonstrators .
The Federal Court which is the highest judicial authority in Iraq has cancelled in the same month pensions of current and former MPs according to the call of the head of Ahrar parliamentary bloc, Bahaa al-Araji and hopes of Marjiyaa of Najaf and the masses.
But MPs returned this month during voting on the Unified Retirement Law install paragraph 37 where they identified their retirement and privileges and the three presidencies and senior officials in the state.
Article 37 of the Unified Retirement Law stipulates giving pensions for MPs and other officials presidencies; As Observers pointed out that it has been voted on, despite public opposition and claims of many of MPs that they voted against it.
The supreme Marjiyaa in Najaf has criticized pushing the privileges of the special degrees for MPs and senior officials in the Unified Retirement Law through paragraph 37 , calling not to vote on that paragraph, if not canceled .
