Shafaq News/ British Ambassador to Baghdad, John Wilkes expressed on Wednesday his country's concern over the use of excessive force against Iraqi demonstrators.

"The United Kingdom remains concerned about the excessive use of force against demonstrators," the ambassador said in a statement.

"The recent reports about Karbala are worrying," he said, adding that "it is important that investigations take place on all credible allegations and hold perpetrators accountable."

It should be noted that one person was killed and dozens wounded in demonstrations in the Iraqi city of Karbala on Tuesday, the Iraqi High Commission for Human Rights said.
