Shafaq News/ Security forces launched a campaign of arrests against demonstrators in southern Iraq, an informed source said Sunday.

The source told Shafaq News that a campaign of indiscriminate arrests by security forces is being taken in Basra, indicating that the security forces prevented student demonstrations in the province.

The source added that security forces near al- Habboubi square in the center of Nasiriyah city, the center of Dhi Qar province, tear gas canisters was used to disperse the demonstrators, pointing to a number of suffocation cases.
