Shafaq News /A number of demonstrators in Basra province were suffocated by tear gas.

The source told Shafaq News that clashes between security forces and demonstrators in al-Zubair district in Basra province resulted in dozens of cases of suffocation during the attempt to break up the sit-in.

The security forces arrested eight demonstrators during the protests and used tear gas and live bullets, the source added.

He pointed out that the demonstrators took control of Maher Thuwaini area, and roads leading to the oil sites after clashes continued for hours with the security forces.
