One of the demonstrators told Shafaq News agency reporter that "removing the tents is to safeguard the October Revolution reputation and not to use by some parties and militias to direct them according to their personal interests."
The demonstrator, who asked to stay anonymous, stressed that "the demonstrations will not stop until officials who gave orders to attack protesters and those who shot live bullets and killed more than 600 martyrs and injured thousands of demonstrators are tried"
The sit-ins in central and southern Iraq witnessed lately a relative calm, with sporadic movements since Mustafa Al-Kadhimi’s appointment and promise to the demonstrators to trial the killers.
Covid-19 pandemic also affected the continuation of the gathering and the protest.
it’s noteworthy that The Iraqi October Revolution 2019 is an ongoing series of protests in the central and southern governorates that consisted of demonstrations, marches, sit-ins, and civil disobedience, to protest corruption, unemployment, and inefficient public services.
Meanwhile, The Iraqi government has used live bullets, marksmen, hot water, hot pepper gas, and tear gas against protesters, The security forces also faced these demonstrations with great violence and targeted the demonstrators with live bullets, in which the death toll of the demonstrators exceeded 700 people and more than 22 thousand were injured, including 3 thousand permanent physical disabilities.
