Shafaq News / Hadi Al-Amery, leader of the Fatah Alliance, warned today, Monday, of a Turkish plan to impose a "fait accompli" policy in Iraq similar to this in northern Syria, noting that the Turkish forces' incursion into Iraqi territory "has dangerous implications."
"We are concerned about the widespread Turkish invasion of northern Iraq, which is unacceptable under any pretext," Al-Amery said, stressing that "there is no international or legal justification for it."
He added that "this latest invasion differs from all previous attacks since it has penetrated 25 km to the Iraqi territory.”
He pointed out that "Turkey is trying to form a security belt similar as it did in northern Syria," calling for "the Turkish government to withdraw immediately from Iraq.”
He also considered that "these actions are not in the interest of the two countries that have historical, religious relations, in addition to the developed economic relations."
"The Iraqi government should take all appropriate diplomatic and political measures to end these repeated attacks, and to discuss this issue in the Arab League, the Organization of the Islamic Conference and in international forums," stressing "all Iraqi national forces to take a unified position to preserve Iraqi sovereignty."
