Shafaq News / The office of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, announced on Thursday that the government will hold its first meeting with demonstrators in Wasit province.
"A delegation of Prime Minister Advisers, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, met Thursday with representatives of the protesters and activists in Wasit Governorate," a statement from Al-Kadhimi's media office received by Shafaq News stated.
“The government delegation met in a demonstrator’s tent on the road leading to Al-Ahdab oil field listed to the demonstrator’s demands," noting that "the government delegation pledged to transfer the demands to the Prime Minister."
The management of Al-Ahdab oil field, west of Kut in Wasit Governorate, an investor from a Chinese company, announced earlier that liquid gas production from the field had stopped due to the arrival of the demonstrators and the closure of the road leading to the field.
The anti-government protests and the ruling political class had toppled the previous government headed by Adel Abdul-Mahdi.
