Shafaq News / German Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed her willingness to support the new Iraqi government headed by Mustafa Al-Kadhimi to recover the country's economy and restore people's confidence in the state and its institutions.

Merkel sent a congratulatory message to Al-Kadhimi on the occasion of his nomination as Prime Minister, saying: "You take up your position at a time when you face major internal and external challenges. Germany has contributed with our partners in the fields of humanitarian assistance, security, stability and reconstruction in your country in recent years with the aim of strengthening Iraq's sovereignty and enhancing the welfare of its people.”

"Germany stands as a close and reliable partner, ready to support you and your government in establishing the foundations for an economic recovery and restoring people's confidence in the state and its institutions," she added.
