Shafaq News/ Tehran has announced the extension of the banning period for land convoys of religious trips through the borders with Iraq.
The Iranian Hajj Organization extended the ban, while continuing to close Mehran crossing, on the background of the unrest in Iraq. According to Fars News Agency on Tuesday,
On Friday, Iranian authorities closed Mehran border linking Elam and Wasit provinces for security reasons. This port is one of the most important border crossings through which visitors to both countries in addition to goods.
Since the beginning of last October, Iraq has been witnessing mass protests calling for improving living conditions, fighting corruption, dismissing the government, dissolving parliament, and holding early elections.
