Shafaq News/ The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman ,Abbas Mousavi expressed "deep regret" over the recent events in Iraq, which resulted in the death and injury of dozens and the destruction of public property, stressing that Iran is following developments carefully.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran supports the demands and wishes of the Iraqi people, which are clearly affirmed in statements of the religious authority, as well as Prime Minister, Adel Abdul Mahdi," Mousavi said.
"We deeply regret the recent events in Iraq that have resulted in the death and injury of dozens of people, the destruction of public property, the confiscation of popular demands and the escalation of violence," he said. "We are confident that the government, the Iraqi people and the authorities can overcome the problems and initiate reconstruction of Iraq in the light of cohesion and solidarity. "
"Since the establishment of the new Iraq, the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been supportive of the Iraqi government and people and has put its energies at the disposal of the neighbor, friend and brother of Iraq," Mousavi said.
