The visit is the second to Zarif as he visited Iraq for the first time since taking office on the 18th of last September where he met a number of Iraqi officials in Baghdad then went to Najaf to meet with four Marjaa’s (high Shiite figures ) there.

“Zarif arrived this morning to Baghdad International Airport and was greeted by a number of officials in the Iraqi government,” An informed source told “Shafaq News “.

"It is scheduled for Zarif’s one day visit to meet his Iraqi counterpart Hoshyar Zebari , Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and Parliament Speaker , Osama al-Nujaifi, in addition to a number of officials and political figures,” He added .

He said, " Zarif talks with officials and Iraqi political leaders will focus on bilateral relations and mutual cooperation between the two countries in addition to the military campaign against armed groups in western Iraq and the Syrian crisis ."
