Shohani said in a press statement seen by "Shafaq News", that “gas export to Iraq has been discussed during the meeting with Deputy Oil Minister, Director General of the National Oil Company, Rukn al-Din Jawadi.

He added that the production capacity in Bejar Tank field of gas in Elam reached seven million cubic meters per day and that this is expected to increase to three times, about 20 million cubic meters a day, according to studies carried out at the level of experts.

The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity has announced in 2012, that it has signed a contract with the Iranian side to import more than one million cubic meters of gas per day to feed four generating stations.

 

The Ministry of Electricity in Iraq announced last July, concluding a contract that is considered the first of its kind with the Iranian Oil Ministry for processing natural gas worth 365 million dollars for a period of four years, subjected to renewal.
