Shafaq News/ The Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council meetings chaired by the Saudi minister of Commerce and Investment Majid Al Qasabi, and the Iraqi Minister of Finance Ali Allawi began in Riyadh to discuss strengthen and deepen the relationship in various sectors.
Saudi Ambassador to Iraq Abdul Aziz al-Shammari told Asharq al-Awsat newspaper that these meetings are a major impetus for developing Saudi-Iraqi”, adding that “the council will discuss ways of cooperation between the two countries in political, economic and cultural fields, and promote investments in energy and agriculture.”
According to the Saudi ambassador to Iraq, the meetings will include “meetings with companies in the energy field for discussing the investment in this sector." Al-Shammari also pointed out that "Arar border crossing will be reopened.”
Earlier, a high-level Iraqi delegation arrived in Riyadh yesterday, including the ministers of finance, planning, oil, health and environment, electricity, agriculture, youth and sports, and the general Secretary of the Iraqi Council of Ministers.
These discussions come a day before a scheduled visit of Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi to Riyadh.
