Shafaq News/The Iraqi Teachers 'Union has announced a nationwide strike in support of the demonstrators' demands.

This followed a meeting of the union's branches to discuss developments in the country of the protest movement.

The statement said that the meeting announced a strike on official work throughout the provinces of Iraq for four days from today to Sunday.

"If the demands of the demonstrators are not met, the central administrative body is empowered to take tougher and broader decisions until the demands are met," the statement added.
