Shafaq News/ Protesters in several predominantly Shiite cities, including Baghdad, began a general strike by cutting off vital roads and government departments in a move to increase pressure on the judiciary, legislative and executive authorities , political parties and ruling forces to implement the demands of the demonstrators.

The capital Baghdad

Protesters and activists blocked the road of "Mohammed Al-Qasim", the road of Zaafaraniya with all the exits and entrances of the area, in addition to “Al-Bonok” bridge , "al-Dora Abu Dashir" road, Al-Ameen al-Thaniya, al-Qanat and the highway.

As well as cutting Talbiya Bridge and preventing the crossing of cars from "Habayebna" restaurant to the side of al- Mawal Square, and the closure of the highway of al-Amel neighborhood, al-Shulaa, and the road leading to the highway.

Protesters closed "al-Muthaffar Square" where they set up a tent in the middle of the street, and the closure of al-Obeidi area and the Baghdad-Diyala road.

Dhi Qar province southern Iraq

Protesters cut off most bridges in the province in a bid to carry out the strike, witnesses said.

Diwaniyah province

Protesters closed Diwaniyah Education Directorate and the old Diwaniyah governorate building, which is now includes several departments, including political prisoners.

In the same province, they closed the building of Labor Department, the building of the Municipalities Directorate , and the Health Department of Diwaniyah.

Babylon province

The province is also on strike and the closure of government departments as follows: Directorate of Electricity Distribution Middle Euphrates, the Court building of Babylon province, the building of the Treasury Department in Babylon, the building of the Real Estate Registration Department in Babylon, the building of the Electricity Distribution Department in Bab al-Hussein, and building of Education Directorate of Babylon.

Wasit and Muthanna provinces

Protesters blocked a number of streets in Wasit, bridges and roads in Samawa, the provincial capital of Muthanna province, Shafaq News correspondents said.
