The adviser of the committee , Adel Mukhtar told “Shafaq News " that” It is unlikely that Turkey would cut off the water of the Euphrates River finally as some Arab newspapers have mentioned”.
“I think that the news is not correct because I contacted counsel of Minister of Water Resources , Aoun Thyiab , who returned from Turkey on Friday and said that he had not heard such news of his Turkish officials counterparts."
"The Advisor of the Minister of Water Resources explained to us that this action taken by Turkey is to hold an annual depends on reducing water releases, because they do not need to generate electricity for the good weather at this time of the year ."
He added, " As for Syria , Thyiab ‘s analysis to the low water in Assad Lake is due to the inability of the Syrian government to store water because of the circumstances that prevailed in the country , so the Turkish releases have affected them.
“Akhbar” Lebanese newspaper has mentioned yesterday in a report seen by " Shafaq News " that the water level in " Assad Lake " has fallen about six meters because the Turkish side cut off waters of the Euphrates , what keeps millions of Syrians and Iraqis without drinking water .
