Shafaq News/ Karbala confirmed that there were no casualties among the protesters, while noting that there were casualties, mostly from the security forces.
This came at a press conference for the governor of Karbala, the police chief and the commander of the operations of the middle Euphrates.
The governor of Karbala said that the province was subjected to a smear campaign, and pictures of the dead in the city were "fabricated recordings."
"There were no casualties in the protests," he said. "There are wounded, mostly security forces."
He also asserted that what he described as intruders are working to burn the city, and some people attacked the security forces, official departments and banks.
For his part, the commander of the Central Euphrates operations, said Karbala is safe and there is no curfew in the city, " there is not a single martyr in the sector of the middle Euphrates operations."
However, Major General Ali al-Hashemi, said that some demonstrators carried yesterday small arms and try to derail the demonstrations.
Karbala's police chief said, "Some intruders carried weapons and bombs that are internationally prohibited and are trying to spread havoc in the city."
