and discuss the crises in Iraq and Syria.
The last visit by Kerry to Saudi Arabia was in late March, when he accompanied President Barack Obama. And probably will meet with the Saudi monarch in Jeddah taken by the Government of the Kingdom as headquarters during the summer months.
Kerry said, "President Obama asked me to travel to Saudi Arabia to meet with King Abdullah and discussed regional issues including the situation in Iraq and how we can meet the common threat posed by the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant organization (ISIL) and also to discuss support for the moderate opposition in Syria."
United States and Saudi Arabia are concerned from the success of ISIL after its fighters swept through large areas in northern Iraq and were joined by a mix of tribal and Islamist militias and members of the Baath Party.
But officials from Saudi Arabia have said that they are opposed to foreign intervention in Iraq after Baghdad asked for U.S. air strikes against ISIL.
Riyadh has disagreed with the main Western ally on its policy in the Middle East since the start of the Arab Spring uprisings in 2011, and has already criticized the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003 for being furtherance to its main regional rival Iran.
