Shafaq News / Kurdistan Democratic Bloc announced on Sunday, voting for the government of Prime Minister-designate Mustafa al-Kahdimi.
"The prime minister-designate, Mustafa al-Kadhimi is an acceptable figure and at the same time has extensive relations and is working to form his government in accordance with the constitutional period granted to him," the bloc's deputy Rebwar Karim told Shafaq News.
"The Kurds are supporters of Al-Kadhimi and will vote yes to the government, which he will present to the parliament in a session to give confidence to the government."
Regarding the candidate for the Finance Ministry, Karim explained that "discussions and dialogues are still going on to resolve the candidate of the Ministry and present it with the cabinet to the parliament."
The Kurdish blocs have a total of 58 seats in the Iraqi parliament.
The National Alliance bloc has 21 seats officially, before it was exposed to splits, and its members joined other blocs.
For the government to obtain the confidence of Parliament, an absolute majority (50% + 1) is required for the number of members present (not the total number) to grant confidence, but its chances in light of the escalating opposition seem difficult.
