Shafaq News / A legal expert revealed on Saturday the punishment of those accused of "selling government positions."

"The Iraqi Penal Code in articles 307 punishes bribery with penalties of up to 7 years imprisonment, as the law No.160 of 1983, bringing it to 10 years," Ali al-Tamimi said in a post.

He added, "Article 310 of the Penal Code penalizes the briber and the bribe-bearer, as well as the mediator, with the same penalty, even if the employee wanted to obtain the money without doing the work, he would be punished with the same punishment above."

Al-Tamimi added that "a specialized court for corruption cases has been established, and I believe that the severity of the punishment and the speedy resolution of the procedures will greatly help in the very important deterrence at this stage, after the fall of this large number of martyrs revolting against this corruption."
