Sadr, who led the fight against the American forces in Iraq before its withdrawal has, became an important element affecting the government as he said in unprecedented statement that he retired from the political action and dissolved his movement.
Sadr’s decision led to the disintegration in Ahrar bloc as a number of its members announced their withdrawal from the Iraqi parliament about two months before the date of the general election.
The member of the state of law coalition, Saad al-Matlabi told "Shafaq News", that "This is not the first time on which Moqtada al –Sadr withdraw from the political process and we are waiting to know how serious this withdrawal is.”
Sadr announced in a statement posted Saturday not to interfere in all political matters and for bloc not to represent him anymore and or any position inside and outside the government and parliament.
Sadr led an insurgency against American forces before their withdrawal in December 2011 and had a strong presence in the government after his political bloc supported Prime Minister , Nuri al-Maliki and helped in obtaining this position for two elections .
But a dispute took place between the two leaders when al-Sadr criticized Prime Minister for what he described as taking most of the powers while analysts said that his withdrawal was in the interest of al-Maliki.
Matlabi added , " I hope that al-Sadr remains a religious symbol and leaves politics for what it contains of corruption as al-Sadr mentioned in his statement ."
He noted that "the State of law will stand strongly to reveal all corruption mentioned in the statement.”
