Shafaq News / Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Allawi confirmed that there is an attempt to thwart passing his government due to be voted on on Thursday in the Iraqi parliament, with the escalation of the dispute with political parties agreeing to give him support.

Allawi tweeted, "I heard that there is a plan to thwart the government passing because stealing will stop because the ministries will be managed by independent and impartial ministers as this scheme is represented by paying huge sums of money for the deputies to make voting secret, I hope this information is incorrect.”

The Alliance of Iraqi Forces, headed by Speaker of Parliament Muhammad al-Halbousi, called for the replacement of Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi, who described his approach as a crisis approach.

Allawi was chosen to head the prospective government, based on an unspoken agreement between Sadr and his rival, leader of al-Fateh Alliance , Hadi al-Amiri.

According to the constitution, the parliament’s session of confidence in the government is held at the request of fifty deputies, the president of the republic, the president of the parliament or the prime minister, including the resigned prime minister.

For the government to obtain the confidence of Parliament, an absolute majority (50 +1 +1) is required for the number of members present (not the total number).
