Shafaq News / A source reported on Sunday that the conditions in Diwaniyah and Najaf provinces have intensified, indicating that several main roads have been blocked in the two governorates, in protest against Qusay al-Suhail's nomination to take over as prime minister, replacing resigned Adel Abdul Mahdi.

The source told Shafaq News that "protesters in Najaf city blocked the roads by burning tires and closed al-Askariyen tunnel, in protest against the nomination of Qusay al-Suhail."

He added, "Large crowds went out to demonstrate in Diwaniya, and closed government departments in protest against Suhail's candidacy, stressing that the strike will continue until the popular demands are met."
