“The date of Saudi families visit for their detainee sons in the prisons of the Iraqi authorities is still under discussion, stressing that it did not specify a date for the visit so far, and that a decision on this issue needs some time, The Regional Director for Media and Publishing in the International Committee of the Red Cross, Fouad Bawaba said in a press statement seen by "Shafaq News”.
He said that the subject of transferring the Saudi prisoners in Rusafa and al-Nasiriya prisons in Baghdad to Susa prison in Kurdistan Region is still under discussion with the Iraqi authorities.
For his part, Secretary-General and official spokesman for the Iraqi Red Crescent , Mohammad al-Khuzai, said that his department has not been notified yet on a specific date for the Saudi families to visit the prisoners, pointing out that he had previously met with the head of foreign affairs at the Red Crescent, Prince Bandar Al-Faisal in Sydney, Australia and it was agreed on the visit the Saudi and Iraqi parents and get approval to visit 20 Iraqi people, waiting for an appointment visit, and rule out the possibility that the visit takes place during the current period.
He added that the work of the Red Crescent in the two countries in this file is specifically a humanitarian action, and that the termination will cause the convergence of views between the two countries in this regard.
He said that the role of the Iraqi Red Crescent will provide logistical support, and facilitate all procedures related to the visit, including the arrival of visitors to Baghdad and obtaining official approvals from the concerned authorities in this regard.
Khuzai promised that he would visit Saudi prisoners in Iraqi prisons and meet with them and hear what they have during the next period, stressing that he had visited them a few months ago.
