The report noted that " preliminary information showed the use of monkeys in March 2003 in the weekly newspaper of Morocco (political week) According to it, the Moroccan authorities sent 2,000 monkeys as an assistant for the U.S. Army for use in mine clearance and had been tamed by about 9 to thousands of U.S. troops ."
