Shafaq News / The leadership of Samarra Operations in Salahuddin Governorate announced on Monday, reinforcing the security forces in its borders with Anbar Governorate to prevent infiltration and passage of Islamic State"ISIS" elements, noting that infiltration operations targeting the city have been foiled.
" Samarra operations forces and the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) Brigade 313 carried out today search operations in Tharthar Lake within the borders of Samarra - Anbar, in search of corridors that ISIS may use to infiltrate Samarra," Operations Commander Major General Emad Al-Zuhairi told Shafaq News Agency and pointed to " strengthening security sectors in the city's borders with Anbar and the continuation of monitoring and control operations around the clock."
Al-Zuhairi added that “Samarra’s operations achieved good results in cutting off the infiltration and passage corridors,” stressing that “several infiltration operations from Anbar borders and other areas of Salahuddin are planned to target Samarra city (south of Salahuddin).”
Salahuddin Governorate has witnessed, since last April, a marked escalation of attacks that targeted security forces, PMF, and several areas that resulted in dozens of casualties and injuries.
