Shafaq News / Al-Fateh Alliance headed by Hadi Al-Amiri revealed on Wednesday that some of the candidates in the cabinet that Prime Minister-designate Mustafa Al-Kadhimi presented to the parliament are accused of corruption.
“There are clear corruption files among some of the candidates in the ministerial cabinet submitted by Al-Kadhimi to the parliament ,” The deputy of the parliamentary bloc Al-Fateh , Fadel Al-Fatlawi told Shafaq News.
“Al-Fateh bloc will enter the session of granting confidence and will vote on the candidates that it find competent and qualified, at the same time any person accused of corruption will be refused to take over a ministerial portfolio in the next government."
"Today's session will be crucial to give confidence to the government of Prime Minister-designate Mustafa Al-Kadhimi,” Al-Fatlawi added.
Yet Burhan Alddin Ishaq, adviser to the Speaker of the Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi revealed yesterday the arrival of the list of names of candidates for ministerial portfolios in the government of Prime Minister-designate Mustafa al-Kadhimi to parliament.
It is scheduled for the Parliament is to hold the session to consider whether or not to give confidence to Al-Kadhimi government today at 9 p.m.
For the government to obtain the confidence of Parliament, an absolute majority (50 percent + 1) is required for the number of members present (not the total number) to grant confidence.
The constitutional deadline for Al-Kadhimi to pass his government in parliament expires on May 9 of 2020 amid expanding opponents to pass his government in the past few days, after he was initially supported by the vast majority of political blocs.
If Al-Kadhimi obtains confidence from the parliament, the new government will succeed the government of Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, who resigned in early December 2019 under pressure from popular protests calling for the departure and accountability of the political class accused of corruption and waste of state money
