The Syrian Foreign Ministry demanded in a statement seen by "Shafaq News", "all States to work hard to dry up the sources of terrorism faced by the two country."

Damascus has condemned these acts, which it described as "terrorist," expressing "support and solidarity to the Iraqi government , army and people in its response to terrorism."

The move comes after the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" organization “ISIL”  controlled Nineveh province and its capital Mosul in northern Iraq, and other areas in Salahuddin and Kirkuk provinces, after the withdrawal of the Iraqi army.
