Shafaq News / The Iraqi President of the Republic , Barham Salih expressed his wishes on Tuesday to Prime Minister-designate Adnan Al-Zorfi for his success in the tasks of forming the new government.

Saleh's position came in a statement after he assigned Al-Zorfi today at a ceremony held at the Peace Palace in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

Saleh expressed, according to the statement, "his wishes for the prime minister in charge of success in his new tasks, to work for early and fair elections, to achieve the aspirations of Iraqis, to meet the legitimate demands of peaceful demonstrators through the implementation of the required reforms, and to preserve the sovereignty, stability and security of Iraq."

The statement quoted Saleh as saying that "Iraq deserves the best and its people to make the great sacrifices for a free and dignified life and a promising future for all the people."  

This is the second person assigned by the President of the Republic after the resignation of Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi, where Al-Zorfi comes after Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi was previously assigned, but the latter did not gain the confidence of the Iraqi parliament due to the intensification of differences among the political blocs on the way he chose his government team.
