Shafaq News / The judicial investigative body formed to hear the cases of events in Dhi Qar demonstrations have issued an arrest warrant and travel ban against General Jamil al-Shammari.

The Supreme Judicial Council said in a statement received by Shafaq News that "the investigative body in the presidency of the Court of Appeal of Dhi Qar issued a warrant of arrest and a travel ban against General Jamil al-Shammari for the crime of issuing orders that caused killing demonstrators in the province."

Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi decided on Thursday to withdraw the powers of Lieutenant General Jamil al-Shammari from the management of the crisis cell in Dhi Qar province after killing 22 people and wounding more than 180 others in clashes with security forces on Wednesday evening.
